Remember that awesome iOS ’86 theme concept we showed you last week? The one that looked like it came straight off an old Mac Plus computer? Well it’s now available in Cydia for your downloading pleasure.

Conceptualized by designer Anton Repponen, and created by an author named AR7, iOS ’86 gives your new school device, an old school feel. And here’s how you can install it on your jailbroken iPhone or iPod touch…(...)

In a special edition of ABC’s Nightline program last night, correspondent Bill Weir traveled to Apple’s main manufacture, Foxconn, to get an inside look at working conditions inside of the plant. During the program, Weir showed workers working on the assembly line, the dormitories they live in, and more.

Apple, Foxconn, and the FLA have today released statements to ABC regarding a few of the things said during last night’s program. Apple responded to a claim one worker made, after she said that she carves the aluminum shavings from 6,000 iPad logos per day…(...)

Adding to its large array of ongoing lawsuits, Apple has been sued by patent holding company Brandywine Communications Technologies over two voicemail patents. The lawsuit was filed in a local Florida court on Tuesday, reports GigaOm.

The patents in questions are No. 6,236,717 and No. 5,719,922, which were filed in 2001 and 1998 respectively by Brandywine. One patent is officially described as…(...)

Apple has been in the media as of late for their manufacturing plant Foxconn. Many have profiled the plant as having terrible working conditions, but when we got an inside look last night, things didn’t look as bad as previously depicted. The FLA is currently inside of Foxconn inspecting conditions and is poised to publish a report soon.

Today, at another China plant that manufacturers screens for the iPhone, two workers who claimed they were poisoned on the job have prompted a new petition…(...)

Asymco analyst Horace Dediu published an interesting report this morning that attempts to figure out what Apple pays to manufacture each iPhone. Over the last 5 years, the handset has quickly become Apple’s largest money-maker.

Dediu uses a number of resources, including manufacturing information that has recently come to light thanks to ABC’s “A Trip to the iFactory” documentary, to determine what Apple spends building each iPhone, from parts to shipping…(...)

Back in November, the Dev Team announced they had found a very promising iPhone 4S unlock, but there hasn’t been any news on that front ever since. We’ve had an untethered jailbreak for A5 devices for a while, but the cherry on top would be to get a software unlock via UltraSn0w for the iPhone 4S.

While we’re waiting for a software unlock, a few Chinese companies are working on a hardware unlock. We’ve recently heard about new comers who claimed having a SIM interposer unlock for the iPhone 4S – TPSIM and R-SIM – but we can’t recommend those yet as we haven’t been able to give them a try.

Today, Gevey, a familiar name to us, is releasing the Gevey Ultra S unlock for iPhone 4S…(...)

Realmac Software’s Clear to do application has gotten an enormous amount of media attention over the past few weeks. One publication said that Clear’s innovative, gesture-based UI “had the potential to change how we use our devices.”

But if you haven’t had the chance to try the app out, then it may be hard for you to see what all of the fuss is about. Luckily, developer Evan You has created an HTML5 replica of the Clear application so folks can give it a free test drive…(...)

ABC’s 25 minute documentary ‘A Trip to the iFactory‘ just aired on Nightline, where correspondent Bill Weir traveled to Foxconn for the world’s first full view of the operation inside. For those unfamiliar, Foxconn is the factory where Apple’s and other top brands’, products are manufactured.

In recent years, the Shenzhen, China based Foxconn has had a negative vibe in the public’s view. People have viewed Foxconn as exploiting workers, hiring people underage, and causing workers to become so depressed they commit suicide.

ABC was granted the first inside look at the factory, showing working and living conditions workers are under to produce our favorite Apple products. But did the way ABC portrayed Foxconn match public perception, or did it bring a whole different view (spoiler alert)?(...)

In December, we heard Apple was looking to buy 160-acres of land in Prineville, Oregon. The new mass of land was reportedly for hosting servers to power Apple’s iCloud, much like the $1 billion data center Apple owns in North Carolina.

Tonight, MacRumors points us to a KTVZ article confirming Apple has purchased the land in order to open up a large new data center…(...)

Twitter today updated its iPhone app, adding new features and more importantly returning old ones to their former glories.

The release, bringing the version number up to 4.1, adds improvements such as better Direct Message handling and improved image quality, but without doubt the two most important features aren’t new at all – Twitter has now returned swipe shortcuts and the ability to copy text to its iPhone app.

Both features were removed in a recent app update, much to the annoyance of the app’s users and causing many to jump ship to third-party alternatives such as Tweetbot which recently reached a milestone of its own…(...)

Last night, it was announced that the iPhone 4S will be available on China’s third-largest carrier, China Telecom, on March 9th. Apple has been aggressively attacking China and has been reaping off its benefits. To benefit iPhone sales even more, Apple is continuing to pursue adding more carriers to support the iPhone in China.

Reuters reports China’s largest carrier, China Mobile, has been “aggressively negotiating” a deal with Apple, but some technical hurdles are holding back a launch for now…(...)

People went into quite the stir, after WSJ published an article reporting that Google had been overriding Safari’s privacy settings to track user’s web browsing habits. Pepper spray is one of the best tools for self defense when being mugged, or worse, by a criminal. However, it’s one of those things that you won’t always have on you, especially if you’re not a female who carries a purse.

Opponents of the rumored LTE-flavored iPad have argued that Apple will avoid the 4G technology again this year since it’s still not widely available. Why would the company complicate its manufacturing process with multiple 3G/4G models?

But what they don’t understand is that chips already exist that work with both LTE and 3G networks. Case in point, Qualcomm unveiled a new all-in-one chip today that could very well be what Apple is using in the upcoming iPad…(...)

Nothing makes a long car ride go by faster than listening to your favorite music, which is obviously played through your iOS device. There are many stereos and FM transmitters that will allow you to play music from your iOS device to your car’s stereo, but nothing that quite lets you integrate it into the dash.

We’re huge fans of Kickstarter and have shown you many projects from there before, and today we’re here to show you a concept called ‘Dash‘ that lets you easily integrate your iOS device into your car’s dashboard…(...)

But after a little bit of testing, I’ve confirmed that there just may be enough differences between UnlockFX and iUnlock to warrant a look.

Back in January we told you that the EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation) was asking for everyone’s help in its fight to keep jailbreaking legal. It suggested leaving a comment on the Copyright Office’s comment board to show your support.

The board closed on February 10th, and the Copyright Office recently published everyone’s entries. And even though there were only about 700 comments submitted, some big names turned out to defend jailbreaking, including Saurik…(...)
