So enjoy 5 of the most addictive iPhone games that I’m digging right now:(...)

Twitter today updated its iPhone app, adding new features and more importantly returning old ones to their former glories.

The release, bringing the version number up to 4.1, adds improvements such as better Direct Message handling and improved image quality, but without doubt the two most important features aren’t new at all – Twitter has now returned swipe shortcuts and the ability to copy text to its iPhone app.

Both features were removed in a recent app update, much to the annoyance of the app’s users and causing many to jump ship to third-party alternatives such as Tweetbot which recently reached a milestone of its own…(...)

We recently told you about the success of the App Store in reaching nearly 25 billion Downloads. That’s a truly amazing statistic. In that 25 billion there will no doubt be some good apps, some poor apps and some down right ugly apps. The good folks over at Redmond Pie have come across a fine little app called ‘Mactracker’ which definitely fits in the good section.

Mactracker is one for the nostalgic Apple fans out there, offering in depth details on every Apple computer ever made with full technical specifications including things like processor speed, memory details, graphics card, optical drives, supported OS versions, expansion options and more. The App covers all bases right back from 1984 to present day…(...)

Israeli startup Waze has released an update for its iOS GPS navigation app, adding hands-free crowd sourcing to its arsenal.

There are already plenty of GPS navigation apps on the App Store with TomTom being one of our favorites, but Waze is a little bit different in that it uses crowd sourcing as a means of measuring traffic congestion and accidents. The reliance on humans reporting such issues is both its strong and its weak point.

While the use of real people to build a map of what is really going on should make for a more accurate navigational experience, it also means that the service just plain fails to work if people don’t take the time to check in. This latest update should help alleviate that particular issue…(...)

App piracy is something which is a real problem for many iOS developers, especially the smaller, independent ones. Things don’t get much easier for the big guys, either.

Rovio, the people behind Angry Birds, also suffer from a spot of piracy, and not just of the app variety, either. All sorts of merchandise is being made and sold in Asia, with Rovio getting nothing by way of monetary compensation. But that doesn’t seem to bother Rovio’s CEO Mikael Hed.

In fact, he seems to be surprisingly happy about it…(...)

RIM’s new CEO Thorsten Heins may have inherited a sinking ship, but he seems determined to explore all avenues in his attempt to find an escape route for the ailing Canadian firm.

Having previously been very keen to keep its BlackBerry Messenger crown jewel as a key feature that is exclusive to its hardware, BlackBerry smartphones may not be the only ones to support it some time in the future. RIM’s new CEO outlined his company’s openness to such a move during an interview with CrackBerry.

If RIM was to license its SMS-like instant messaging system to third parties then it could stript the firm’s handsets of arguably their biggest feature…(...)
